Governor Deval Patrick released his proposed budget today for fiscal year 2013, which starts on July 1.  The governor’s budget local aid allocation for Belchertown is the same as the budget for fiscal year 2012 with $13,251,093 going to the schools and $1,335,093 in unrestricted funds. Belchertown Native Dies In New Year's Eve Roll-Over Accident In Pelham
State police say call was received by dispatch at midnight.  The driver's passenger was pregnant with twins that were lost as a result of the incident.  The passenger was brought to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries.

Town Officials Continue The Battle
Town officials continue to meet daily to deal with the mass power outages that still plague most of Belchertown.  They discussed growing concerns with regard to the town’s municipal water supply, the health of senior citizens, the status of the shelter, Halloween plans, and getting power restored throughout the community.

Road Conditions And Slow Pace Of Power Restoration A Frustration For Belchertown
Belchertown power restoration continues at a slow pace and road conditions remain less than ideal for bussing causing school to be delayed until next Monday.  At a meeting with town officials this morning, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Judith Houle decided to keep the schools closed for the rest of the week.  Four days after a nor’easter devastated the area, more than two-thirds of the town remains without power.

Power outages lead  to the death of a 57 year old male and a 22 year old female and two dogs in the Bondsville Village of Palmer 106 Emery Street yesterday afternoon.  Bondsville borders Belchertown to the south.

A fire destroyed Thomas and Cynthia Downey’s 2265 square foot home at 19 Mountain View Drive today.  Neil Jackson, who lives across the street, and his son Matthew Jackson called the fire in.  Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
